Children’s Programs

For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. — 2 Timothy 1:7

Our Children’s programs are designed to build and improve the supersystems of the body…Vestibular, Proprioceptive and Tactile Systems that are responsible for academic learning. We focus on crossing the midline activities, building connections in motor planning and coordination, eye-hand coordination and fine motor skills.

PHYSICAL BRAIN TRAINING

For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

— 2 Timothy 1:7

The program known as Physical Brain Training was developed after years of teaching physical education for the early elementary grades at Cornerstone Christian Schools. Young students were showing a decline in their coordination, strength, and overall physical abilities; directly impacting many things, most importantly their behavior and academic performance in the classroom.

Our founder combined her love for fitness and boot camps with a data driven approach to reach, nourish and improve specific body systems responsible for academic learning. The program grew into additional space, offerings and grade levels and the result was miraculous…children were able to self-regulate emotions, focus in the classroom; improving behavior and academic performance; even being discharged from regular therapies.

Physical Brain Training is a faith and peer based station fitness program that helps children build and improve their tactile*, vestibular*, and proprioceptive* body systems, which are responsible for academic learning. Our program addresses core strength, muscle development, motor skills, balance, and coordination.  It provides children the links to close developmental gaps which will empower them across all aspects of their personal growth and development.

Why is Physical Brain Training important?

Our current screen society has caused children to abandon the way they learn through physical play for more passive entertainment.  Children need to be able to properly develop the critical skill sets that were natural to prior generations. Students’ coordination and physical abilities directly impact their emotional maturity, behavior, and academic progress–children need to move their bodies in order to learn.

Physical Brain Training supports children to become stronger, more focused, and to grow academically. MOST importantly, children LOVE doing the program…they LOVE Coach Hartman!!

SOCIAL SQUAD

Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.

— Matthew 28:19-20

Our Social Squad program was created to give children a safe place to play and interact with their peers outside of school. In past generations friendships were formed at school and nurtured after school by playing outside, riding bikes, being inside each other’s homes, or having sleepovers…This is how past generations learned to communicate, be creative, solve problems, create experimental structures, and even try their hand at entrepreneurship.

Our Social Squad program meets once a week for two hours. We start with prayer and devotion, participating in a physical brain training class that develops the tactile*, vestibular* and proprioceptive systems*, then shift to various curriculum based activities as a group that strengthen social skills, nurture problem solving techniques, allow for creativity, ingenuity, and provide impromptu experiences that help participants recognize their environment and practice acting appropriately to what they experience. Our Social Squad fosters children’s ability to consider the perspectives of other individuals and apply that understanding to interactions with them, provides opportunities to serve the community, activities apart from the studio to practice their abilities in real-life settings and is a perfect complement to therapies already being received.

DRAMA CREW

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

— Philippians 4:6-7

This creative expression class utilizes role play, impromptu opportunities, engages creativity,  practices engaging eye-contact while learning to freely express oneself.  Our Drama Crew Instructor selects a scripture in the bible…the crew reads the scripture together, discussing and gaining an understanding on what was transpiring at the time and what the scripture means to them personally…then they recreate the scene, practicing writing scripts, using direction and props to bring the scripture to life.

Our program helps children build and improve their tactile* and proprioceptive* body systems, fine motor skills and writing abilities…addresses perseverance, improves confidence in communicating with others effectively, fosters creativity and children’s ability to consider the perspectives of other individuals and apply that understanding to interactions with them; improves leadership skills. This program will empower children across all aspects of their personal growth and development and is a perfect complement to therapies already being received.

DANCE

Let them praise his name with dancing.

— Psalm 149:3

Ballet is an artistic expressive dance performed to classical music using precise and highly formalized set steps and gestures. It is an art created by movement of the human body and can be very theatrical; telling a story, expressing a thought, concept or an emotion.

Our ballet program, a faith based dance program focused on the origin of dance being an act of worship. It introduces children to the foundations of ballet; positions, movements and terminology…gives them an opportunity to express themselves and recognize how their body can respond and move with rhythm and beat of music.

Our program helps children build and improve their vestibular*, and proprioceptive* body systems, addresses endurance, improved aerobic fitness, core strength, muscle strength, tone and development, motor skills, balance, and coordination. It provides children with the links to close developmental gaps which will empower them across all aspects of their personal growth and development.

GIRLS CLUB

As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.

— Proverbs 27:17

Our Girls Club program was designed to give young tweens/teen girls a safe space to be encouraged and grow in the fullness of the Lord…to form friendships that are encouraging and edifying to one another; the way Christ intended relationship inside the Body of Christ…Her win/My win is about how “what’s meant for you will not pass you by” and what’s needed and meant for another is not necessarily what is needed and meant for me…we shift the focus of comparison into camaraderie. This Club meets once a month for 1 and ½ hours…We workout together, have a group devotional time, craft/dance/self care time and conquer fear in aerial yoga.
